Apple + Google = Text Love?

We are getting a little closer to two big names – Apple and Google – coming to an agreement about text message formats. Many Android users (like Ben & Emma) have long suffered from pixelated videos sent by iPhone users, broken group chats, and not knowing if our texts have been read by the recipient (oh heavens!). We joke, but Android has also been poking fun at Apple for continuing to use the antiquated SMS format for their messages (as seen in this cheeky campaign). Apple has now said that they will be switching to RCS format, which stands for Rich Communication Services, in the fall of 2024. This means that both major companies will be using the same format, and should result in better messaging security, read receipts, typing indicator, and location sharing.
