For whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee, Windows 10. Hopefully this isn’t news to anyone by this point, but Windows 10 goes “end of support” in just five months. October 14, 2025 will see the release of the last free patch for the aging operating system. As we’ve discussed in this newsletter before, you will continue to be able to use your Windows 10 computer after that date, but it could be vulnerable to any newly discovered bugs. I hear you asking: how many vulnerabilities could there still be in a 10-year old operating system? Well, last month’s patch release included fixes for 72 vulnerabilities, 44 of which applied to Windows 10. In order to stay protected, you should consider upgrading to Windows 11 if your computer is compatible, or replacing the computer entirely if it’s not. Need more time to decide? Details are still pending for the announced “Extended Security Updates” program, but you can purchase another 12 months of patches for $30 per computer. Let us know if you’d like help reviewing your options!
