There is a somewhat-hidden command in Windows that allows you to view the health of your laptop’s battery. To run it, open the Command Prompt as Administrator and type in powercfg /batteryreport. This will create a report in C:\Windows\System32\battery-report.html which can be opened to view various statistics. One of the more relevant data points is the “Full Charge Capacity” compared to the “Design Capacity”. This will give you an idea of how worn down your battery is compared to when it was new. For comparison, my two-year-old laptop has a cycle count of 368 (the number of times I have charged it) and the current capacity is 76% of the design capacity. If your laptop battery capacity has dropped off and it’s affecting how long use can use it without a charging cord, let us know and we can provide a quote to replace the battery.
