Hackers love to target the biggest fish in the pond, and Dell is nearly as big as they get. The tech giant has confirmed that a customer database containing names, physical addresses, and purchase histories has been leaked. The “how” has not been revealed, but someone on the dark web is attempting to sell this package of 49 million records. I received a brief email alert from Dell myself on May 9th, and if you have purchased anything directly from Dell since 2017 then there’s a good chance you are a part of the leaked information as well. The good news, I suppose, is that no financial information, email addresses, or telephone numbers are part of the leak (allegedly). So for now there's no action needed on your part other than the continued vigilance against scams that we always advocate for.
