It’s true that many people have found Apple’s recent iOS 26 update a bit jarring and difficult to navigate. However, one standout feature is "Phone Screening," which essentially transforms your device into a personal virtual assistant. We are all constantly bombarded by unwanted calls, and this tool is a great way to filter them out.

I’ve been testing this feature for a month and am very pleased with the results. When a number that isn't in your contacts calls, your phone silently transcribes the conversation in real-time. You can then read the text to decide if the person is worth answering. In my experience, spam or robo-callers usually hang up immediately, so I’m never even interrupted; I don't even realize they called until I unlock my phone later. It is incredibly convenient because it saves you from the "is this important?" anxiety every time the phone rings.

To enable this setting, follow these steps: Settings > Apps > Phone From here, you have two primary options:

iPhone screen showing a call from +1 (408) 555-0145. "Screening Call" in green text, automated message asks caller for name and reason.
