If you spend enough time on Facebook, you’ll undoubtedly see a “game” or “quiz” that encourages you to share some personal information. Your first car, your first kiss, or your high school mascot all seem like fun things to share with friends. But beware! The answers to these types of questions are often used to validate your identity when resetting a forgotten password. Scammers are mining Facebook for this type of personal information to try and gain access to your other accounts. You can continue to have fun on Facebook but keep in mind that whatever you post is effectively permanent, and act as if the whole world can see it. Side note: I think very carefully about what I put in the “Ben trivia” at the bottom of these emails to be sure they aren’t answers to my own security questions. I have to practice what I preach!
