Microsoft continues to dribble out the “Extended Security Updates” (ESU) program that will allow businesses and consumers to keep receiving security updates for Windows 10 past the published October 14, 2025 end-of-support date. In July’s newsletter we shared the three different ways to sign up, but none of them were available at the time. We still have yet to see widespread rollout of the program, but are keeping a close eye on it. There are a few important things to keep in mind:
● The extension for consumers is only through October 2026 – no further extensions will be offered.
● You must have a (free) Microsoft account in order to sign up.
● Each Microsoft account can have up to 10 devices enrolled. For example, if you elect to pay the $30 for the ESU then that will apply for all your other devices also signed in to the same Microsoft account.
We are keeping a list of clients who have functioning Windows 10 computers and have shown interest in the ESU program. As soon as we see the program becoming widely available we will reach out to them to assist with the process. If you would like to be added to that notification list, please let us know!
