Is My Cloud Storage Really Full?

Not a week goes by that we don’t have a client asking if a notice claiming their cloud storage is full is legitimate or not. It seems that scammers are banking on users not being aware of how much cloud storage they’re really using, and clicking on malicious links to remedy that. So we thought we’d give a brief lesson on how to check your actual cloud storage, using the three most common providers: Apple iCloud, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. For Apple iCloud, the easiest way to check your storage is with an iPhone or iPad: open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap iCloud. You’ll see a colored horizontal bar indicating how much you’ve used. For Google Drive, open a web browser and go to https://one.google.com/storage to see a similar colored representation of used cloud storage. Likewise, to check OneDrive storage visit https://onedrive.live.com/managestorage. And as a last piece of advice, if the alleged alert message just uses the generic term “cloud storage” and not the name of a service then it’s definitely fake!
