If you have been using the generic Mail app on your Windows 10 computer, you will have noticed that in the last month Microsoft replaced it with the so-called “Outlook (new)” app. You may even have been prompted to re-enter your email password for the new Outlook to work. It has a refreshed interface, but a lot has changed under the hood. I’m not a fan of providers forcing change upon us, but in Microsoft’s defense you would have seen a pale yellow banner at the top of your Mail screen for quite some time, and I even wrote about it in this newsletter a year ago. If you can’t abide by the new Outlook (or the advertisement that is always at the top of your inbox), it may be time to switch to a non-Microsoft email program. I usually recommend users access mail through a web browser (e.g. gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com), but if you want a fully-featured mail program there are alternatives to Outlook. Mozilla Thunderbird is my favorite, and eM Client is another option. Both are free, although eM Client offers a paid plan with additional features. Let us know if you are having a frustrating time adjusting and would like some assistance.
