If you use Google to automatically backup photos taken with your smartphone, you may find one day that you don’t have enough storage to keep this up. Google provides a generous 15GB of cloud storage for every free account, but the day will come when even this isn’t enough. But I have good news! Google has an option to slightly decrease the quality of your backed up photos, which drastically reduces the online storage used. The photos will still appear very sharp on a phone but may show some pixelation if printed out to a poster size. To perform this action, go to the Manage Storage section of your Google account settings and select “Learn more” next to “Convert existing photos & videos to Storage saver”.
