No, unfortunately we aren’t talking about Chocolate Chip cookies (though you should try Emma’s favorite recipe). Cookies are small pieces of information about you that websites store and use to customize your experience on their site, but they can also track your history and preferences, which may not be, well, preferable. With the advent of more privacy laws worldwide like the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), websites must now get your consent for collecting cookies. The banner that pops up when you first visit a site may give you the option to accept, decline, or customize your cookies. Declining the cookies may not allow the site to fully work, but it also may give you more autonomy and privacy. Remember that you can always delete stored cookies in your internet browser by going to your settings and clearing browsing data. You can read more about cookies here on our blog.
