The internet has become such a part of our daily life that when it goes down it really can affect us more than we would have thought. But do you understand how the internet works? What is this sorcery that allows me to send an email to another part of the world in seconds, or order a product and have it delivered the same day, or watch a live video? I started to write an explanation for this newsletter but couldn’t find a coherent way to describe the magic. Then Emma pointed me to this old and simple five-minute video and I knew she had found gold. In basic terms the narrator illustrates quite accurately how data flows between the millions of internet-connected devices. Give it a look! It’s definitely worth a few minutes of your time.
