(How’d you like that alliteration?!) Do you ever find yourself about to click on a link or open a downloaded file but get that funny “Is this 100% safe?” feeling? Even if you have antivirus software you may want to double-check. An excellent and free resource is the website VirusTotal. You can upload a file or copy a web link and it will scan it against 70+ antivirus databases within seconds. This is a great way to see if your antivirus software may not have detected an issue but a different program would have. One caveat, though: view the results with a bit of a critical eye. Some antivirus engines can be a little overeager and return false positives.
