Microsoft Slowly Strangles Outlook Classic

Microsoft Outlook first became available 28 years ago and soon became the de facto software for email management, particularly in business environments. As a result the term “Outlook” has become nearly synonymous with “email.”  It evolved over the years but retained its core features and popularity. The latest version, often referred to as “Outlook new,” is a complete rewrite of the code. We have written about this before but there are now more signs that Microsoft intends to strong-arm users away from the classic Outlook. New Windows computers come preinstalled with a trial of Office 365 – but it omits classic Outlook and only includes the new Outlook! To the uninformed, it appears that you must use the new version. There is a workaround, however: this link will allow you to download and install Office with Outlook classic. So if you are one of the many people who prefer Outlook as your email client, save that link for the next time you get a new computer. Or just contact us and we’d be happy to get it installed and configured for you.
