Windows 10 Extended Support

Hopefully by now you are aware that Windows 10 will reach “end of support” in October 2025. This means any computer that can’t be upgraded to Windows 11 will no longer receive patches or bug fixes after that date. Those who are resistant to change or unable to afford a new Windows 11 computer now have a small reason to celebrate. Microsoft had previously announced their “Extended Security Updates” (ESU) program for businesses and has now released pricing for individuals. For a one-time payment of $30, individual users can receive one more year of security updates (until October 2026). This seems to me to be a reasonable price for some peace of mind and an additional year to save up for a new computer. Details are expected to be released later this month on how the ESU program can be purchased. If you are uncertain if your computer is compatible with Windows 11, or want to review end-of-the-year sales of new computers, send me an email and I’ll happily set aside some time to chat.
